At 9:30 a.m. Mayor Miller is making an “important announcement.” About what? Who knows.

Some early guesses are that he will run again or plans to step down early to take another job. If so, who will replace him? Pantalone? Carroll? Stay tuned or follow us on Twitter @TorontoBOT

 

9:30 a.m. Miller: Announcing important plans for 2010 and 2011.

9:31 a.m. Miller: Budgets are far more than just balance sheets.

9:33 a.m. Miller: $250 million budget surpluss. The city of Toronto will take the first steps toward a 2 year operating budget plan.

9:34 a.m. Miller: The budget surplus is over $100 million higher than predicted.

9:35 a.m. Miller: No TTC fare increase.

9:37 a.m. Miller: Toronto will have a balanced budget for 2011.

9:37 a.m. Miller: Surplus comes from: cost containment implimented, waste constraint, higher parking revenues, increases in suplimentary taxes, reduction in assesment appeals.

9:38 a.m. Miller: Must return to cost sharing of TTC with province.

9:40 a.m. Miller: 75% of surplus goes into reserve; 25% to reduce property tax increase/improve services
